What is Reiki?
First, let me ask you this:
Are you aware that your body is made up of more than just skin and bones, and underneath our skin we are made up of energy. This energy runs along what’s called your chakra systems, which are centers that hold and move energy through the body. This system has been scientifically studied and dates back thousands of years across many cultures.
Reiki is a therapy founded in Japan that promotes wellness, restoration, and relaxation in the mind and body. Reiki moves energy along the body’s chakra systems through light touch or above the body’s energy field.
“Rei” means universal life, and “Ki” (commonly referenced like the Chinese Chi or Qi) means energy, therefore, “Reiki” is the universal life energy that flows through all living things.
These energy pathways or “chakras” correlate to various aspects of who we are and what we create in our lives.
Alecia, our Master Reiki Practitioner, use
Have you ever felt heaviness in your heart when going through an emotional or stressful time and struggled to shake that feeling? Do you know someone who struggles to use their voice in an empowered way? Have you ever struggled to let go of things no longer serving your journey to make space for something new? We all have those moments where we feel ungrounded; like the path ahead of us in unclear. Reiki reestablishes the flow of energy through our chakras that become blocked when we have experiences like these. When our energy can flow freely, we can allow into our lives the peace and ease to flow through life no matter what we’re navigating.
Common experiences include in a deep sense of relaxation, reduction of pain and inflammation, marked shift in moods from anxiety, anger, and depression, increased clarity and energy, and spiritual guidance.
1 hour sessions are $77
30 minute sessions are $55
Halotherapy is an additional $20
The benefits to adding Halotherapy to a reiki session include increased relaxation and opening of the airways and respiratory systems to encourage deeper breathing and ease in releasing energetic tension.
This hands-on technique is gentle & safe and practiced in hospitals and clinics worldwide.
Q. Is Reiki safe?
A. Reiki energy comes from and moves through natural energetic pathways found within the body and universal energies. It works to stimulate healing with clients and their practitioners by flowing to where the body needs this energy and in the exact right amount it needs it. Reiki cannot cause harm to an individual, you cannot give or receive too much or too little, and is safe for anyone including pregnant women, children, babies, and even pets. Reiki can be administered through a gentle touch, above the person’s body over their energy pathways, and across distances.
Q. Does Reiki have any religious affiliation?
A. No. While the Reiki practice is very spiritual in nature, it is not associated with any particular religious practice, and people of all walks of life and beliefs can benefit from the clarity and balance Reiki can provide them. Reiki clears the body and mind of distractions and limitations that can open space for a deeper connection to one’s own religious, spiritual, or holistic practices.
Q. What should I expect to happen in my reiki session?
A. Each session begins with a brief scan of the energetic pathways to establish the relationships of what is occurring energetically in the body and the impacts being created in your life. We will set an intention for the practice and ground the body using essential oils. Reiki energy flows through the practitioner’s hands into the client through the chakra system. The client is encouraged to position themselves however they are most comfortable. This can include sitting, standing, laying down or a fluid combination of all three. The client remains fully clothed, and the practitioner will always ask for consent when using a hands-on approach which includes a light touch over the top of the head, forehead, shoulders, neck, heart space, stomach, hips, knees, feet, etc).
It’s important to drink lots of water after receiving a Reiki session to continue to support the flow and release of energy that comes up throughout the day. Your practitioner will set up a time to contact you after your session to check in on how you’re feeling, making sure everything is grounded and talk through any additional support you may need as energies continue to release.
Q. How long does a session last?
A. Your session will begin no later than five minutes past the hour to allow you time to fill out a pre-consult sheet for your session. The session itself will lastapproximately 45 minutes with a 5 minute debrief and grounding at the end.
Q. What does a Reiki session feel like?
A. The experiences of each session are unique to each individual and what is released and created. There are some common experiences such as a deep sense of relaxation, easing of tension and physical pains in the body, reduced anxiety, anger and depressive emotions, increased clarity and revitalization, and peace. Some may drift off to sleep, sometimes strong emotions can be released, and it’s important to note this is a safe and confidential space to allow whatever comes up for you to be released. At the end of a session, most clients report feeling refreshed, balanced, centered, and spirits lifted.
Q. How often should I come in for a reiki session?
A. Reiki has a cumulative effect, and for most clients to achieve the intention they set for their bodies to be in energetic harmony, it requires more than one session with some regular maintenance like any healthy self-care practice. The frequency of visits is unique to each individual and their intentions for energetic clearing. For new clients, what is typically recommended by our practitioner is 2 weeks between sessions to support establishing a baseline of energetic balance in the body. Creating familiarity in what harmonized energy feels like to you will support you in understanding when things are becoming unbalanced and why. The goal of reiki is to support consistency in energetic flow. The frequency of sessions is entirely up to the discretion of each client for as often as they would like support in feeling revitalized, rebalanced, and ready for another energetic adventure.
Q. What kinds of things can Reiki be used to treat?
A. While Reiki does not replace the advice and treatment plans of physicians and doctors, it is a supportive tool to work with existing treatment plans to generate ease in the healing process of a variety of illnesses and conditions. This is one of the reasons it’s becoming widely used in hospitals and clinics. Reiki studies have shown its effectiveness in alleviating symptoms from minor aches and pains, muscle tension, inflammation, headach
